Forensic Investigation – Century Building Solutions, Inc. provided crew to facilitate the forensic investigation of the EIFS and window systems by Wiss, Janney, Elstner consultants. Areas were chosen, water tested and openings were made in the wall system that were replaced after investigation was completed.
Elastomeric Wall Coatings and “Wet-sealing” – Using elastomeric coatings in conjunction with compatible perimeter sealants and silicone “wet-seals” at all window glazing and metal joinery, Century Building Solutions, Inc. provided a complete waterproofing barrier to keep the buildings dry. The work required over 9 custom colors with a mix of specialized professional grade sealants to transition from EIFS substrates to the window glazing.
Complex rigging and building access – Due to the fact that the buildings were occupied by a mix of high-end retail and Princess Cruises personnel, Century Building Solutions, Inc. had to access the work with a minimum of disturbance during normal working hours. We provided a mix of hard scaffolding, boom lifts and swing stages to safely complete the project, without logging a single complaint from Westfield Malls or Thomas Properties Group tenants.
Waterproofing success – Prior to our work, the buildings exhibited extensive leaking from the roofs, windows and the EIFS wall itself that resulted in mold and distress with retail tenants. The project withstood the winter of 2005 with over 35 inches of rain without leaks and continues to perform to this day.
